This Chester County Armory listing is for a British-designed Sterling Mk V (Mark 5) 9x19mm NATO integrally suppressed transferable sub machine gun.
Arguably, one of the quietest and most reliable integrally suppressed sub machine guns ever designed (some will argue even quieter and softer shooting then the most recognized in this class, the venerable MP5SD), the Sterling Mk 5 (or L34A1, as it is known by its British military designation) was one of the first sub machine guns adapted specifically for covert use by inclusion of a ported barrel and an integrated suppressor. Even though the Mark 5 continues use of the Sterling’s original open-bolt design, the pairing of the side breech opening, ported barrel, and suppressor makes for one of the quietest models ever designed.
This particular transferable machine gun was created using a DLO registered machine gun tube and an original Sterling machine gun parts kit, along with a Mark 7 pistol as a base. The suppressor is a DLO suppressor that has been serialized to match up with the serial number of the NFA registered machine gun.
This weapon is in fantastic mechanical condition, with no wear concerns whatsoever. It has been test-fired and runs flawlessly. The bolt-face is clean and the bolt assembly notes no wear marks other than what is to be expected from normal metal-to-metal contact. The bore is bright and shiny with crisp rifling. The metalwork is perfect, with no cracks, dents, dings, gouges, malformations, etc.
Cosmetically, this transferable machine gun is also in wonderful condition. Overall, the black crinkle finish is excellent, with only some minor marks on the right side of the folding stock noted. The wooden handguard is in perfect condition with no dings, dents, cracks, or even scratches in the wood finish, and all mechanisms lock and move appropriately. There are some minor surface marks in the suppressor finish, but nothing that penetrates the crinkle finish.
This fully transferable sub machine gun and suppressor are both currently on Form 3’s for easy transfer. This weapon will require two NFA tax stamps (machine gun and suppressor).
