Buying a gun online in California, without the guesswork
California has its own rulebook, and most national gun sites ignore it until your order is cancelled. We do the opposite. Every firearm on this site is checked against California law before it ships, and every listing tells you where it stands: ships to California, needs a California configuration, needs a roster check, or cannot come into the state at all.
What you need before you order
- A Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC). A short written test at any licensed dealer, valid five years.
- California ID and, for a handgun, proof of residency such as a utility bill or vehicle registration.
- A local FFL dealer to receive the firearm. Tell us who they are at checkout and we coordinate the transfer.
- Patience for the 10-day wait. State law puts ten days between the DROS paperwork and pickup, for every buyer.
What we can and cannot ship into California
Handguns must appear on the California DOJ roster of certified handguns. Semi-automatic centerfire rifles ship in a featureless or fixed-magazine configuration. Magazines over ten rounds, suppressors, forced-reset and binary triggers, unserialized frames and short-barreled rifles cannot be sold to California residents at all, so those listings are marked clearly and we simply will not send them to a California address. If you live outside California, most of them are still available to you.
Ammunition and parts
Parts, optics, holsters, cleaning gear and safes ship straight to your door anywhere in the state. Ammunition sold to California residents has to go through a licensed ammunition vendor with a background check at pickup, so we route ammunition through your dealer rather than the mailbox.
