This Chester County Armory listing is for a very rare, factory original Interdynamic MP-9 9x19mm NATO transferable factory sub machine gun.
Created by the Swedish company Interdynamic AB of Stockholm, the MP-9 was the original, full-auto predecessor to the Intratec TEC-9 line of semi-automatic pistols that helped define gun design in the 1980’s. This from-design-to-concept model was manufactured and registered in the US by Interdynamic in Miami, FL. They manufactured less than 25 of these models as factory full-auto sub machine guns. This particular example is serial number 14. This model is NOT an Intratec TEC-9 conversion gun. This is the real, actual sub machine gun as it was designed and intended by Swedish firearm designer George Kellgren (who, incidentally later went on in 1991 to found Kel-Tec CNC Industries, and continue his firearm designs through creations, there).
Designed in the 1983-84 time period by Kellgren (while he was the head designer for Interdynamic AB), the MP-9 was one of the last factory-original designed model machine guns to be added to the NFA transferable registry prior to the 1986 legislative changes. This polymer lowered machine gun was originally intended for military applications, but when Interdynamic AB could not find a government buyer, Kellgren brought the design to the US and tried to make a commercial run at here, with a consumer audience instead. Only a handful of full-auto factory versions were produced, as Kellgren realized changing the design to a semi-automatic Title One pistol (the Intratec TEC-9) made more sense for sales volume.
With a design based loosely on the Swedish K sub gun design, the MP-9 model features a 6.8″ barrel, forward vertical grip, and an original, telescoping wire stock.
This rare example is in excellent overall condition. Mechanically, the internals note little use, with only minor wear markings on the metalwork of the bolt. The barrel rifling is bright, shiny, and crisp. Neither the metal upper receiver, nor the polymer lower note any cracks, dents, dings, malformations, etc. or anything that would be considered problematic for operation. Cosmetically, this weapon is also in excellent condition, with only minor handling marks seen in the original parkerized finish of the metalwork. The polymer lower receiver is also in excellent cosmetic condition, as well.
This very rare MP-9 factory machine gun is fully transferable and is currently on a Form 3.
