This Chester County Armory listing is for a factory-produced Springfield Armory SAR-48 7.62x51mm NATO fully transferable machine gun that has been set up as a DSA SA58 OSW (Operations Specialist Weapon).
Originally built by Springfield Armory, Inc. in Geneseo, IL, the SAR-48 is a direct, US-made copy of the venerable FN FAL assault rifle. Known as the “right arm of the free world” based on it’s widely accepted military use by NATO countries, this FAL copy was factory built by Springfield Armory using the original metric design. It was then later set-up as a DSA SA58 OSW by renowned gunsmith Mike Friend of Firing Line in Wyandotte, OK using original DSA new production parts. The SA58 OSW is an assault-carbine variant of the paratrooper model of the FAL, conceived and designed by DS Arms. This modernized and updated FAL model features a 13″ medium contour barrel threaded 5/8×24 RH, along with a quad railed forend and a full top mount Picatinny rail system for optics. It also proudly displays a three position fire control assembly (safe, semi, and full), as well as its original folding paratrooper stock.
This transferable machine gun is in like-new condition and has not been fired since its gunsmithing transformation into an OSW. Mechanically, the bolt and bolt face are clean with very limited wear markings. The fire control internals are in excellent, like new condition, with only minor markings noted. The rifle bore is bright and shiny with crisp and clean rifling. The metalwork on the gun is fantastic, with no dings, dents, scratches, etc..
Cosmetically, the exterior finish on this model is in factory new condition, with no noted handling marks, outside of the typical marking immediately caused upon initial activation of the fire control selector mechanism. This fully transferable factory machine gun will come with its original Springfield Armory Inc. box and two 20rd magazines.
This spectacular transferable weapon is currently on a Form 3 for easy transfer. The current NFA Form 3 lists “Springfield Armory” as the manufacturer and “SAR-48” as the model.
