About this product
California buyers ask one question before anything else about a new pistol: can it actually be delivered here. For the CZ DUTY 4.0 we confirm the roster status of the exact model and configuration before an order ships, so you are never left guessing after you pay. What CZ has released is a striker-fired 9x19mm with a serialized internal chassis, a modular fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame and a plain 4-inch barrel with no threading.
The compact C version holds 15+1 rounds, or 17+1 with the extended base plate, weighs 770 g and stands 135 mm tall. The full-size F holds 17+1, 19+1 extended, weighs 780 g and stands 143 mm tall. Both run 188 mm long and 33 mm wide with fixed sights and a slide cut for direct red dot mounting. MS models add a manual thumb safety alongside the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety. The SFDA trigger pulls about 5.6 lbs with a 4 mm reset. MSRP $729.
This is the shorter grip of the two DUTY frames: 135 mm (5.3 in) from the top of the slide to the base plate, 770 g (27.2 oz) empty, 15+1 rounds standard and 17+1 with the extended plate. The slide and 102 mm barrel are the same as the service-size gun, so it shoots like one.
Under the DUTY name sits a serial-numbered modular chassis, a 33 mm (1.3 in) wide fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, a 102 mm barrel and a trigger CZ rates at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 4 mm (0.16 in) reset. The slide is optics-ready by direct mount rather than an adapter plate. Fixed sights come standard, and the barrel is not threaded.
There is no external safety on this model. Drop safety comes from the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the drawbar safety, the way most modern striker-fired pistols are set up. If you want a frame-mounted lever, the MS version has one.
Who is it for: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new buyers who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.
Any DUTY 4.0 you order here goes to the California FFL dealer you name at checkout, not to your home. Before it leaves, the exact model is checked against the current handgun roster, and if a configuration cannot ship to California you will hear from us rather than see a surprise. At pickup your dealer handles the paperwork and applies the state's rules.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the CZ DUTY 4.0 on the California handgun roster?
- Roster listings change, so we confirm the status of the exact model and configuration before any order ships to a California dealer. If a version cannot go to California, we tell you before it leaves.
- What is the difference between the C and F models?
- The C is the compact at 15+1 rounds and 135 mm tall, the F is the full-size at 17+1 and 143 mm tall. Barrel length, width and overall length are the same on both.
- Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
- CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
- Is the compact easy to shoot?
- It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
