About this product

The CZ P-01 is a compact, aluminum-alloy-framed, double-action/single-action 9mm pistol built on the CZ 75 platform, developed originally for European police and military trials that demanded a lighter-weight duty gun than the all-steel CZ 75. It carries a factory accessory rail, a decocker, and the same slide-inside-frame CZ 75 lockup that made the platform's reputation for reliability. Sold here in the 10-round configuration that keeps it on California's approved handgun roster.

What is it used for?

Concealed and duty carry are its main jobs — the alloy frame drops meaningful weight compared to an all-steel CZ 75-pattern gun, which matters when a pistol rides on a belt all day. It's also a solid home-defense choice for anyone who prefers a DA/SA trigger with a decocker over a striker-fired design with no manual reset.

How does it compare to the CZ 75 SP-01?

The P-01 trades the SP-01's all-steel frame for aluminum alloy, cutting carry weight at the cost of some of the recoil-taming mass steel provides. If you want the lightest gun on your belt, the P-01 wins; if you want the softest-shooting range and duty gun and don't mind the extra weight, the CZ 75 SP-01 is the better fit. Both share the same DA/SA controls and decocker layout.

What fits it?

It has a factory rail for lights, and CZ 75-compact-pattern holsters generally fit its dimensions correctly. Aftermarket trigger and hammer spring kits made for the CZ 75 family are compatible if you want to lighten the DA pull. It does not ship with a factory optics-ready slide in this configuration.

Who is this not for?

If you've never shot a DA/SA pistol, the long, heavier first trigger pull is a real adjustment from a striker-fired gun, so plan on dedicated practice before you carry it. It's also not the pistol for someone chasing the highest possible magazine capacity — 10 rounds is the ceiling on this configuration.

Is it worth $649.00?

For an alloy-framed, duty-proven DA/SA 9mm with a factory rail, this sits at a reasonable price against other compact metal-framed 9mms, several of which cost more for similar build quality. Compared to a polymer striker-fired compact at a similar price, you're trading a bit of weight savings for a heavier metal frame and a more traditional hammer-fired trigger.

Does it work in California?

Yes — this configuration, with its 10-round magazine, is built to stay on California's approved handgun roster. As with any handgun purchase here, it ships to your FFL and goes through the state's 10-day wait, DROS, and Firearm Safety Certificate process — full details on our California gun laws page.

FFL transfer required

This item is a firearm and ships only to a licensed FFL dealer, never to a home address. At checkout, enter your preferred dealer as the shipping address, or leave it blank and we will assign a licensed dealer near you at no extra cost. You complete the background check and paperwork with the dealer when you pick up.

California buyers: handguns must be on the California roster for delivery to a California FFL, a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) and DROS are handled at the dealer, and the 10-day waiting period applies. Out-of-state buyers receive the firearm through their own local FFL under their state's rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is the P-01 lighter than the CZ 75 SP-01?
Yes. The P-01 uses an aluminum-alloy frame, which is noticeably lighter to carry than the SP-01's all-steel frame.
Does it have a manual safety or a decocker?
A decocker. You lower the hammer safely with a loaded chamber rather than engaging a separate manual safety lever.
Is it a good first duty or carry pistol?
It's a solid choice if you're willing to learn a DA/SA trigger; if you want a simpler striker-fired trigger with no decocker to think about, look at a different platform.
Can I mount a light on it?
Yes, it has a factory accessory rail sized for standard weapon lights.
Is 10 rounds the only capacity option?
10 rounds is the capacity for this California-compliant configuration; non-restricted-state versions of the P-01 typically ship with higher-capacity magazines.
