CZ Shadow 2 Compact 9MM 4 Optic Ready

About this product

The CZ Shadow 2 Compact takes CZ's competition-proven Shadow 2 platform and scales it down to a 4-inch barrel on a shorter, thinner frame, aimed at shooters who want the same DA/SA hammer-fired feel in a size that works better for daily carry or a smaller hand. This version is optics-ready from the factory, using the same low-profile mounting interface found on the full-size Shadow 2 OR, so it accepts the same mounting plates.

What makes the Shadow 2 Compact different from the full-size Shadow 2?

The Compact keeps the forged 7075 aluminum frame but trims the grip and shortens the barrel to 4 inches versus the full-size gun's longer slide, which makes it noticeably easier to conceal while keeping the same double-action/single-action trigger system CZ built its competition reputation on. Single-action pull is a light, crisp 3.4 pounds; double-action first-shot pull runs around 10.3 pounds, which is standard for a DA/SA hammer gun and gives you a manual-safety-style first shot without an external safety lever getting in the way.

Is the optics cut compatible with common red dots?

Yes — the slide uses the same direct-mill mounting interface as the Shadow 2 OR, so it's compatible with the mounting plates already sold for that platform. Confirm your specific optic's footprint against CZ's plate options before buying a dot separately, since this listing is for the pistol only.

What's the magazine capacity, and how does that affect a California purchase?

The Shadow 2 Compact ships with 15-round magazines. California limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds for sale and possession in the state, and also keeps its own roster of handguns cleared for retail sale. Both of those points need to be checked against your FFL's current information before you place an order — don't assume a magazine or configuration is compliant just because it's the factory standard elsewhere.

How does delivery and pickup work?

This is a firearm and does not ship to a home address. It goes to a licensed FFL dealer, where you'll complete a background check and the standard transfer paperwork before taking possession.

Buyers coming from striker-fired pistols should budget time to get comfortable with a DA/SA trigger before relying on it for defensive use — the long, heavier double-action first pull followed by a short, light single-action reset is a different skill than a consistent striker trigger, and it rewards dry-fire practice. CZ's reputation in this format comes largely from decades of building service and competition pistols with this exact trigger system, so the Shadow 2 Compact isn't a first attempt at a DA/SA hammer gun; it's a scaled-down version of a design CZ has refined over multiple pistol generations. Holster options are more limited for the Compact than for full-size Shadow 2 models simply because it's a newer size variant, so it's worth confirming holster availability for this specific frame length before you buy.

At roughly 2 pounds unloaded and about 7.5 inches long, the Shadow 2 Compact sits in a size class aimed at shooters who liked the original Shadow 2's trigger but wanted something easier to carry or fit smaller hands — not a budget alternative to the full-size gun, but a genuinely different-purpose variant of the same design. Sights are steel, drift-adjustable units front and rear, which hold zero reliably under recoil and are a common upgrade point for shooters who want tritium inserts later without changing the gun's optic-mounting hardware.
