FN 66100797 509 Compact Tactical 9MM Luger 4 32 Threaded Barrel 121 241 FDE Polymer Frame W Mounting Rail Optic Cut FDE Stainless Steel Slide Includes Viper Red Dot

About this product

The FN 509 Compact Tactical is FN's compact, threaded-barrel, optics-ready 9mm built for suppressor and red dot use straight from the factory, and this Flat Dark Earth SKU (66100797) pairs the pistol with a bundled Vortex Viper red dot rather than selling the slide bare. At $1,029.99, the red dot bundle carries a meaningful premium over FN's non-optic 509 Compact Tactical, which reflects the added cost of the sight rather than the pistol alone.

What's included with this specific SKU?

This package bundles the FN 509 Compact Tactical FDE pistol with a Vortex Viper red dot pre-mounted or included for mounting, along with two magazines - a 12-round flush-fit and a 24-round extended magazine - giving you both a concealable and a range-oriented magazine option in the same box.

What makes the barrel and slide 'tactical' spec?

The 4.32-inch barrel is cold-hammer-forged and threaded 1/2x28 for suppressor use, and the slide sits at suppressor height with tritium night sights raised to co-witness with a can attached. The optics-cut slide uses FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System, which accommodates a wide range of red dot footprints - including the Vortex Viper included here - without needing a separate adapter plate for most common optics.

How does the trigger and action work?

It's a striker-fired trigger pull in the 5.5-7.7 pound range with no manual thumb safety - FN relies on the trigger safety and internal mechanisms rather than an external lever, which is consistent with most modern striker-fired duty and carry pistols.

FN builds the 509 Compact Tactical on the same core polymer-frame, striker-fired architecture as their full-size 509 duty pistols, scaled down for a more concealable grip while retaining the steel slide and full-length accessory rail on the frame's dust cover for mounting a weapon light. The Low-Profile Optics Mounting System is one of the more flexible factory optics-ready designs on the market, which is part of why FN could ship this pistol pre-configured for the Vortex Viper rather than needing a specific adapter plate matched to just one sight footprint. Ammunition compatibility is standard 9mm Luger, and the pistol's suppressor-height sights mean it functions the same whether or not a suppressor is attached to the threaded barrel, giving you flexibility to shoot it either way without swapping sights.

Shooters buying a bundled optic-and-pistol package like this are typically trying to avoid the separate cost and hassle of picking a compatible red dot and having it mounted after the fact - getting a pistol and optic that are already matched to the same mounting footprint removes one more decision and one more trip to a gunsmith from the process.

What should California buyers confirm before ordering?

Both magazines included with this pistol exceed California's 10-round limit, so confirm with your FFL which magazine configuration you'll actually be permitted to receive, and check the current roster/compliance status of this specific FN 509 configuration before placing an order - bundled-optic SKUs like this one aren't always the same listing FN's roster approval covers.

How does the purchase process work?

As a firearm, this pistol ships to a licensed FFL dealer rather than to your home address. You'll complete a background check and any state-required waiting period before taking possession. Checkout on this site runs through secure checkout, and FFL transfer fees are set separately by the receiving dealer.
