Kimber 2K11 Pro OR Royal 9mm Double Stack 1911 Pistol – Enhanced Performance and Reliability
About this product
The Kimber 2K11 Pro OR Royal is a double-stack, 9mm 1911-pattern pistol built with an optics-ready slide cut and Kimber's Royal-grade finish work, aimed at shooters who want traditional 1911 ergonomics with modern capacity and a red-dot mounting option. It pairs the classic single-action 1911 trigger and grip angle with a widened frame that holds significantly more rounds than a standard single-stack 1911. This is a newer addition to Kimber's 2K11 line, built for competition shooters and serious range or defensive use rather than as a budget carry gun.
What is the Kimber 2K11 used for?
It's built for shooters who want a 1911 trigger and manual of arms with more rounds on tap - competition shooting, home defense, and range work where capacity and a red-dot sight matter more than 1911 tradition alone. The pre-milled optics cut lets you run a red dot without a separate milling job or adapter plate.
How does it compare to a standard single-stack 1911?
A traditional single-stack 1911 in 9mm typically holds 8 or 9 rounds and keeps the original, slimmer 1911 grip profile. The 2K11's double-stack frame trades some of that slim-grip feel for roughly double the capacity, which means a thicker grip circumference that not everyone's hands prefer. If you want the 1911 look and feel in its slimmest, most traditional form, a single-stack model is the closer match; if capacity matters more, the 2K11 is the tradeoff worth making.
What fits it?
The optics-ready slide accepts red-dot optics using Kimber's factory optic-cut footprint - confirm the specific footprint with us before buying a red dot so plates and mounting hardware match. Standard 1911 holsters built for a full-size single-stack frame are not guaranteed to fit the widened double-stack grip, so a 2K11-specific or double-stack 1911 holster is usually needed.
Who is this not for?
It's not the right pick for someone who wants the slimmest possible 1911 grip for concealed carry - the double-stack frame is noticeably thicker than a single-stack. It's also not a budget option; this sits at the premium end of Kimber's lineup, built for shooters who already know they want a 1911 trigger with modern capacity.
Does it work in California?
That depends on whether this exact configuration is currently listed on California's handgun roster, since dealers can only sell new handguns that appear on that list, and the roster has added very few new semi-auto models in recent years. As a newer addition to Kimber's lineup, confirm roster status with us before ordering - if it isn't listed, we can't deliver it new to a California buyer outside of the roster's narrow exemptions. Any handgun we can deliver goes through the standard FFL transfer, 10-day wait, DROS, and Firearm Safety Certificate - details are on our California gun laws page.
FFL transfer required
This item is a firearm and ships only to a licensed FFL dealer, never to a home address. At checkout, enter your preferred dealer as the shipping address, or leave it blank and we will assign a licensed dealer near you at no extra cost. You complete the background check and paperwork with the dealer when you pick up.
California buyers: handguns must be on the California roster for delivery to a California FFL, a Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) and DROS are handled at the dealer, and the 10-day waiting period applies. Out-of-state buyers receive the firearm through their own local FFL under their state's rules.

Frequently asked questions
- Is the Kimber 2K11 on California's handgun roster?
- Confirm with us before ordering - California's roster has added very few new semi-auto pistol models in recent years, and roster status determines whether we can deliver a new one to a California buyer.
- What red dot optics fit the factory cut?
- Confirm the exact optic footprint with us before buying a sight, since optics-ready 1911 cuts vary by manufacturer and aren't universal.
- How many rounds does the double-stack magazine hold?
- Kimber lists the 2K11 platform at up to roughly 17 rounds in 9mm, though California magazines are limited to 10 rounds regardless of the factory-rated capacity.
- Does the double-stack grip fit hands that struggled with other double-stack 1911s?
- Grip feel is personal - we recommend handling one in person before buying if double-stack grip circumference has been an issue for you on other guns.
- What holster fits the 2K11?
- You'll need a holster molded for a double-stack 1911 frame, not a standard single-stack 1911 holster - check fitment before ordering.
