Rossi Rio Bravo Rifles Lever Action 4

About this product

The Rossi Rio Bravo is a modern, budget-friendly lever-action rifle chambered in .22 LR, built around the same mechanical DNA as Rossi's larger centerfire R92 lever guns but scaled down for inexpensive rimfire shooting. This listing covers a Rio Bravo configuration in the lineup's polymer/black furniture family.

Why buy a lever-action .22 instead of a semi-auto?

Lever-action .22 rifles have seen a resurgence thanks to their classic look, manual-action reliability, and appeal for both new shooters and Old West/Cowboy Action enthusiasts. The Rio Bravo lets shooters run cheap, plentiful .22 LR ammunition through a full-size, rifle-length platform with a smooth, traditional lever cycle rather than a semi-auto action, which some shooters prefer for teaching fundamentals or simply for the classic shooting experience.

What are the Rio Bravo's core specs?

Rossi's Rio Bravo line typically runs an 18-inch barrel with an overall length around 36 inches, a polymer stock and forend, and fully adjustable fiber-optic sights. Standard polymer-stock models hold 15 rounds of .22 LR, while tactical rail-equipped variants in the lineup run a reduced 10-round capacity. Because this specific listing's exact barrel length and capacity weren't confirmed from the source listing, confirm the precise specs for this variant with your FFL or the seller before ordering if the exact configuration matters to you.

Is the Rio Bravo well-suited for new shooters?

Yes — .22 LR's mild recoil combined with the Rio Bravo's rifle-length stock and simple lever action makes it a popular first rifle for younger or recoil-sensitive shooters, as well as an affordable range-day and small-game option for experienced shooters who want a low-cost-per-round platform. The cross-bolt safety and rear sling mount add practical, beginner-friendly touches, and the manageable overall length works well for younger or smaller-framed shooters who might find a full-size centerfire rifle unwieldy.

Is this rifle legal to buy in California?

Lever-action rifles are generally treated differently than semi-automatic rifles under California's assault weapon laws, but exact features (such as any rail or accessory attachments on tactical variants) can affect compliance. Confirm current California compliance for this specific Rio Bravo configuration with your FFL before ordering.

How does this rifle ship?

As a firearm, the Rio Bravo cannot ship to a home address. It ships to your chosen licensed FFL dealer, where you'll complete a background check and any state-required waiting period before taking possession.

How does the Rio Bravo relate to Rossi's larger centerfire lever guns?

Rossi designed the Rio Bravo to share the same general look and manual-of-arms as its full-size R92 centerfire lever-action rifles, so shooters who own or plan to own an R92 in .357 Magnum or .45 Colt can practice the same lever cycle and shouldering technique on cheap .22 LR ammunition before moving to centerfire practice. That shared feel is a deliberate design choice, not a coincidence, and it makes the Rio Bravo a useful training complement to a larger lever-gun collection rather than just a standalone rimfire rifle. Families building out a mixed rimfire-and-centerfire lever-gun battery often start here specifically for that reason.

For shooters who want an affordable, classic-feeling lever-action .22 for training, plinking, or small-game hunting, the Rio Bravo is one of the more accessible options on the market today — just confirm the exact barrel length, capacity, and California compliance for this listing with your FFL before ordering.
