Springfield Armory Hellcat Micro-Compact OSP 9mm Pistol with Optics Ready Slide

About this product

The Springfield Armory Hellcat Micro-Compact OSP is a striker-fired 9mm pistol built for everyday concealed carry, and the OSP designation is the detail most buyers are searching for - it means the slide ships cut and ready to accept a mounted red dot optic without sending it out to a gunsmith first. At $551.69, it sits in the crowded micro-compact 9mm field aimed at people who want a genuinely pocketable gun that still holds a useful amount of ammunition.

How small is the Hellcat Micro-Compact, really?

Springfield builds the Micro-Compact around a 3-inch hammer-forged, Melonite-coated barrel and a slide only about 1 inch wide, with an unloaded weight of roughly 18.3 ounces. Flush-fit magazines hold 11 rounds, and the extended magazine that ships with most configurations brings that up to 13+1. Buyers in California need to plan around the state's 10-round magazine limit - the factory 11- and 13-round magazines are not usable here as sold, so confirm with your FFL exactly which magazine configuration you'll be able to take home before you commit to this pistol.

What does the OSP slide actually get you?

OSP stands for Optical Slide Pattern. Instead of a flat slide that needs aftermarket milling, the Hellcat OSP slide is machined at the factory to accept a range of the more common micro red dot footprints directly, which is the main reason shooters search out the OSP version over the standard Hellcat. It still ships with a suppressor-height rear sight so the gun is usable with iron sights alone if you never mount an optic.

Is this a good first concealed-carry pistol?

The Hellcat Micro-Compact line was designed specifically to compete in the capacity-in-a-small-footprint category, and the OSP variant adds the ability to run a red dot without giving up much size over the base gun. It uses a standard striker-fired trigger and a textured polymer frame, so it handles like most modern carry pistols rather than requiring a learning curve. Whether it's the right gun for a given shooter still comes down to hand fit and how it points for you personally - we'd encourage handling one in person or asking your FFL about a range rental before buying if you've never shot a Hellcat pattern gun.

Because the Micro-Compact OSP shares much of its footprint with Springfield's broader Hellcat lineup, many holsters and accessories made for the standard Hellcat are compatible, though always check optic-cut compatibility separately since red dot footprints vary by model. Shoppers searching for a Hellcat OSP for sale are typically comparing it directly against other optics-ready micro 9mm pistols, and the deciding factors tend to be trigger feel, capacity, and how the gun sits under concealment clothing - all worth confirming in hand.

How does the purchase and shipping process work?

This is a firearm, so it cannot be shipped to a home address. Springfield Armory pistols ordered through this listing ship to a licensed FFL dealer of your choosing, where you'll complete the standard background check paperwork and any state-mandated waiting period before taking possession. Because California's approved-handgun roster and magazine rules change over time, confirm the Hellcat Micro-Compact OSP's current roster status and the magazine capacity your FFL can legally hand you before placing an order. Checkout on this site is handled through secure checkout, and the price shown reflects the pistol itself - FFL transfer fees are separate and set by the receiving dealer.
