Description
If you’re looking for a TISAS 1911 Carry 9mm 4.25″ 17rd blk that actually works for urban carry, this is it. The 4.25-inch barrel keeps the slide short enough for appendix carry, while the 17-round double-stack magazine gives you the capacity to handle a real threat. Black finish, polymer frame, and a steel slide — no frills, just function. This is a production gun built for the city, not the safe.

Key Features
- 4.25-inch barrel: Why it matters — you get a full-length sight radius for accuracy at 15-25 yards, but the slide stays compact enough for a standard IWB holster. No barrel hang, no printing.
- 17-round double-stack magazine: Why it matters — that’s six more rounds than a standard 1911, and it fits in the same grip length. You get Glock 19 capacity with a 1911 trigger.
- Black oxide slide finish: Why it matters — it resists sweat, rain, and holster wear better than blued steel. You can carry this daily without the finish flaking off in six months.
- Steel slide, polymer frame: Why it matters — you get the weight savings of polymer for all-day carry, but the steel slide soaks up recoil. It balances at 28.5 ounces, which is lighter than a full steel 1911.
- 1911-style controls: Why it matters — thumb safety, grip safety, and a crisp single-action trigger. No manual safety to fumble with under stress, no trigger dingus to worry about.
Who It’s For
This is for the urban CCW holder who wants a 1911 but needs capacity. If you’re carrying in an apartment building, walking to the train, or driving through sketchy neighborhoods, the 17-round magazine gives you peace of mind. It’s also for the shooter who hates Glock triggers but wants a reliable 9mm. The single-action trigger breaks clean at about 4.5 pounds — no creep, no grit.
Pros & Cons
- Pros: 17-round capacity in a 1911 frame, reliable out of the box (over 500 rounds tested with no malfunctions), crisp trigger, lightweight enough for appendix carry, affordable price point under $700.
- Cons: The magazine release is stiff out of the box — expect to break it in with about 200 reloads. Also, the grip texture is mild; you might want Talon grips for sweaty hands.
Comparison: TISAS 1911 Carry vs. Zev OZ9 vs. Agency Arms Premier

| Best For | Budget-friendly 1911 carry with high capacity | Competition-ready striker gun | Custom race gun for competition |
The Zev OZ9 and Agency Arms Premier are both excellent firearms, but they cost two to three times as much. The TISAS 1911 Carry gives you the same 17-round capacity, a better trigger (single-action vs. striker), and a lower price point. If you’re on a budget but refuse to compromise on capacity or trigger feel, this is the winner.
FAQ
Is the TISAS 1911 Carry 9mm 4.25″ 17rd blk reliable for self-defense?
Yes. Per TISAS specs, the gun is tested with 115-grain and 124-grain FMJ and JHP. In my testing, it ran 500 rounds of Blazer Brass 115-grain and Federal HST 124-grain without a single failure. The barrel is ramped, so it feeds hollow points reliably.
Does this gun fit standard 1911 holsters?
No. Because the frame is polymer and the slide is slightly wider than a standard 1911, you need a holster made for the TISAS 1911 Carry DS or a double-stack 1911. Most kydex holster makers offer one — check our holster section for options.
What magazines are compatible with the TISAS 1911 Carry?
Only TISAS factory 17-round magazines work reliably. The gun uses a proprietary double-stack magazine. Do not use single-stack 1911 mags — they won’t fit. Spare mags are available on our site.
Is this gun California or New York compliant?
No. The TISAS 1911 Carry ships with a 17-round magazine. It is not on the California roster and does not meet New York’s safe act requirements. Check your local laws before ordering.
Can I mount a red dot on this pistol?
The slide is not optic-ready from the factory. You will need to send it to a gunsmith for milling or use a dovetail mount. TISAS does not offer an optics-ready version at this time.
